For the third year in a row, we invite you to join us in a peer-to-peer fundraiser to support the work of On Earth Peace. Throughout the month of July, the OEP community will collectively walk, run, dance, swim, shoot hoops, anything! to accumulate miles towards our goal. In June, the fundraising phase of the event begins. Money raised through the 3000 Miles for Peace event will go towards On Earth Peace's work to develop young peacemakers, including through our new “I Object! Now What?” conscientious objection program.
This year, we're especially excited because one of our children's programming mascots, Orby, is joining us for the race! Orby is very curious about conscientious objection and is eager to learn more. As Annual Conference attendees in Fort Wayne, IN head home, Orby will start a tour of sites that will help us together learn about the history of conscientious objection in the Church of the Brethren and what it looks like to be a conscientious objector today. Once the race starts, we'll be able to track our collective progress toward helping Orby reach each stop along the way to the final destination in Washington, DC.
Start logging on July 1st midnight local time. Your miles will boost your team and help advance the Orby avatar along the US route.
Please select a location from the list that appears on the form when you type your hometown location to place your avatar on the map before the race starts. (If you simply enter your address without selecting from the automated list, you will be placed in Oakland, CA.)
You can log running or walking miles OR log minutes of nearly 80 modes of exercise, which our software converts into miles on the route. Currently, 14 participants on 0 teams are registered from companies around the globe!
About the challenge:
- Recruit friends and colleagues to give money for On Earth Peace by sharing your personalized P2P fundraising links.
- See other racers' locations around the globe before the challenge starts by entering a home location on registration.
- Get Racery bling—a digital bib and an award when the challenge is over.
- Log lots of inclusive activities that convert into miles that advance the On Earth Peace avatar across America.
- Post a photo or comment on other racers' logs.
- Compete on leaderboards for miles and donations.
